Victorian High Country Tour

Limitless horizons, crisp clean air, rich history, high mountains, deep valleys and crystal clear waters….Tempting? Why not join us on our Victorian High Country tour!

This five day tour leaves from Mansfield on a Monday, travelling through the High Country and finishing at Tom Groggan campground near Thredbo on a Friday afternoon. Five days of mid week fun and adventure!

Everybody loves the iconic rustic Australian huts of the high country, so we’ll be checking out quite a few, including the famous Craigs Hut from ‘The Man from Snowy River’. Then between the huts we’ll tackle many steep tracks and fun creek crossings, travelling past ancient twisted snow gums and through misty valleys.…all included in the tour!

What else is the high country known for? We’ll visit old mining areas, marvelling at the amazing feats that our ancestors had to go through to bring the machinery into this area. The back breaking hard work that may not yield a single ounce of gold, all the while working in the heat or the snow of the high country.

Luckily things are a lot easier for us now though and mid way through the tour we will camp at a lovely pub with great food and a fantastic out door area to enjoy.

After our relaxing night we head off there next morning to the famous Blue Rag range. A High Country icon, here we tackle one of the steepest tracks in the High Country. At the top we get a breathtaking view, and on a clear day the view from here literally goes on forever.

After the excitement of the first few days, the tracks get slightly less steep but the views just keep getting better, passing more rustic huts before you get to drive through the mighty Murray River! Here it’s not quite as deep as it is at Echuca, but you’ll be able to say to people that you have actually driven through Australia’s most famous river!
